Peta Thurling
Mark-making has been essential to me since childhood. Study as a graphic designer and subsequent professional design work over the last 20 years has involved painting, drawing, digital imaging, corporate identity, print, interactive and packaging design.
A growing discipline of studio practice; challenges and changes to my sense of place and identity brought to light a hunger for more experience in traditional art-making and cultural productions.
I completed a Diploma of Fine Arts at TAFE Illawarra Institute Goulburn and Moss Vale campuses in 2013, focusing on drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, cultural productions and digital imaging.
From 2013 – 2018, my studies continued at ANU School of Art, Painting Workshop. I was honoured to be the recipient of the 2015 Veolia Creative Arts Studies Scholarship. My current focus involves the interrelationships between time, memory and the process of looking.
